Air cleaner or car engine air cleaner is a fairly simple mechanism. It consists of a filter case and filter element, which is a nonseparable structure and comes in a complete set with a lid. At the bottom of the air filter housing there is a special pimple, called an oil bath, where the engine oil is filled. Rubber gasket is used both for the filter element housing and filter housing.
When the engine starts, the air enters the annular slot between the filter and filter element housings. Air flow, which passes a vertical annular channel, formed by these housings, over the oil bath turns at 180 degrees. At the same time large dust particles, which continue to run down, get into the oil and accumulate on the bottom of the oil bath. After that air enters the filter element where it is cleaned and sent to the cylinders.
